UIC's Study of the United States Institute

UIC's SUSI

The Study of the United States Institute for Secondary Educators (SUSI) is an intensive, six-week Institute intended for teachers and scholars who are devoted to learning about and increasing their understanding of U.S. society and culture.

We worked with our friends at the department of External Education at UIC to design and develop a new site that would highlight, feature, and manage logistics for students both new and alumni to the program. By providing sets of Dreamweaver templates, the UIC staff can manage updates to the site independently, building new sections to support past students and updating calendars for the program in years to come.

Civitas Schools

civitasschools.org

Civitas Schools is a non-profit educational management organization (EMO) founded in 2004 that operates charter schools in Chicago. It produces some of the highest-achieving students in Chicago.

Based on branding and design direction provided by our friends at Good Studio, we’ve developed a series of school websites and incorporated an easy-to-use content management system using Movable Type. The sites feature Flash stories, key information for parents and students, and a visual design that carries through to the Schools’ printed collateral.

The University of Chicago offers a unique one-year Master of Arts program.

Working with our friends at MAPH, we helped to launch the redesigned department website. With its diverse audience of prospective students, current students, and alumni, the website was charged with helping to convey the unique value of the program, while keeping current students “in the loop” with department events, deadlines, and activities.

Neoteric designed the visual look and feel of the site based on existing identity materials and University of Chicago photography. We developed key Dreamweaver template files for the site. Our work was easy for staff to to use, update and maintain.

...Neoteric gets a very long applause for their work. Thank you for helping make the Humanities a more beautiful place!

FoCR's Watershed Community Report

Friends of the Chicago River's educational program provides for scientific experimentation, water quality monitoring, historical investigation, art projects and ecological restoration.

This supporting website allows Chicago area schools to submit water and habitat data from various collection points along the river. As part of Friends education program, area middle and high schools can adopt sections of the river which they monitor and restore on an annual basis. Member schools can log in, submit data, and download aggregate data from other schools, as well as update their school profile pages.

This Ruby on Rails web application is under constant development, and features integrated Google Maps and data downloads for use in desktop spreadsheet applications.

It features in-page Flash components, key information about the organization and its events, and a fresh visual design.

McCormick Tribune Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum

bridgehousemuseum.com

The Bridgehouse Museum allows visitors to explore the historic bridge tower at the corner of Michigan Avenue while learning about the history of the Chicago River and its impact on the development of the city.

Because of its layout, the museum content was inaccessible to the disabled. We designed the website and museum media center to feature the stories on each floor. Staff maintain the site through an easy-to-use content management system.

We needed help organizing our content and conveying our message. Neoteric was invaluable: they helped us develop goals for the site that complement the museum, and built it so it's easy for us to update.

The site features an extensive content management system, innovative information architecture, and an identity branding system developed by our friends at JNL Design.

Working with Neoteric was an amazing experience. We now have one of the most dynamic websites in the museum industry - intuitive, educational, and visually sophisitcated.

Swedish Workwear North American Websites

blakladerusa.com
blaklader-workwear.ca

This well-known European brand workwear company recently introduced its clothing line to the US and Canadian markets.

It provides uniquely engineered workwear, specifically designed for the trades and construction environment. The parent brand website focused on European market, but the product line for the North American audience needed to provide greater background on the brand, product history, and product design. Neoteric Design designed US and Canadian websites that introduce, engage, inform, highlight, and detail, through video and flash, the specific design details of the workwear line.

The websites feature an online catalog, high quality video content, and interactive Flash product pages that highlight design details. The catalog permits reviews and user feedback, and the site offers sales team support materials, news, and a retail store finder for the consumer audience.
